About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Aviation Systems Architect to join our team in Warton. This is a challenging opportunity to contribute to the design and development of cutting-edge defence systems.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for analysing system requirements, creating and reviewing documentation, configuring software, coaching junior team members, and maintaining familiarity with current tools and processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse system requirements and translate them into effective system designs
  • Create and review technical documentation for the FESS team and customers
  • Configure supplier-provided software for successful application builds
  • Provide technical guidance and coaching to junior team members
  • Stay up-to-date with current tools, software products, and processes
  • Manage time effectively to meet tight programme deadlines

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need a strong engineering background, experience in system and software application design and architecture, and knowledge of modelling techniques and tools.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong engineering background with experience in system and software application design and architecture
  • Familiarity with modelling techniques and tools (UML, Enterprise Architect, XML/XSD)
  • Experience with requirements analysis, elaboration, and management tools (Rational DOORS)
  • Proficiency in configuration and version control tools (Rational ClearCase, Git)
  • Experience working in Windows operating environments, test processes, database technologies, and S/W development knowledge

Desirable Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience with database technologies (Oracle, SQL, etc.)
  • Experience in software application builds and deployment
  • Able to analyse and solve complex technical problems, communicate complex ideas to technical and non-technical audiences
