The role extends beyond the Financial Services unit to the Charitable funds and external reporting arrangements.
Capital Accounting and Charity ResponsibilitiesThe post holder will be responsible for developing and implementing capital accounting policies, adhering to the Trust's Standing Orders and Standing Financial Instructions. They will deliver monthly accounting and reporting for the Trust's charity, working with the Deputy Head of Financial Services to take the accounts from Trial balance to Statutory accounts in formats suitable for delivery to relevant authorities.
Fixed Asset Management and PerformanceThe Capital and Charity Accountant will manage the Trust's Fixed Asset portfolio and perform the capital programme, ensuring timely and effective implementation without breaching the Trust Capital Resource Limit.
Accounting Policy Interpretation and AdviceThe post holder will interpret and advise on existing or proposed changes to complex accounting policies and practices, contributing to the completion of the monthly Provider Finance Returns (PFRs) to NHSEI and internal Board and Committee reporting. They will also manage the Trust's Charity to ensure obligations can be met.
Business Case Development and Strategic PlanningThe post holder will take an active role in supporting Trust senior managers and finance colleagues with the development of business cases, including advising on complex aspects of capital accounting, lease accounting, and VAT accounting. They will also contribute to the development of medium and long-term strategic plans for the Trust, requiring significant judgement, technical expertise, and professional sensitivity.
