About the Role

Stericycle is a leading provider of compliance-based solutions that protect people and brands, promote health and well-being, and safeguard the environment.

We are seeking an experienced Plant Operations Manager to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for managing all plant operational activities to ensure effective and safe utilization of plant equipment, compliance with site permit regulations, and meeting customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day plant operations in accordance with license obligations and health and safety procedures, including KPI targets and business objectives.
  • Provide strong inspirational leadership to the operational team, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and high levels of engagement.
  • Ensure optimum levels of plant/equipment performance is achieved and sustained, providing technical assistance and support to the service and maintenance teams.
  • Manage, train, and develop a team of multi-skilled engineers and technicians, ensuring compliance with Health and Safety legislation and Safe Systems of Work.
  • Accountability for overall productivity within the operation, ensuring activities are cost-effective and levels of resource are managed effectively.
  • Budgetary responsibility for the site, ensuring costs are managed in line with P&L expectations.
Requirements
  • High School or equivalent education.
  • Engineering degree or equivalent.
  • Experience of managing KPIs and P&L.
  • Experience of operating an engineering plant.
  • Plant maintenance.
  • Thorough knowledge and hands-on experience of working at a similar senior level within a complex plant function, ideally within an incineration and combustion environment.
  • A passion for encouraging teamwork, with an innovative approach to leadership.
  • An inspiring leadership style, creative and implementing new ways to improve performance and get the best out of your people.
  • A focus on promoting a culture where all employees are engaged.
  • Excellent customer relationship building skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness.
  • An analytical mind-set with a good understanding of reporting and recording performance statistics.
  • Relevant engineering/manufacturing knowledge.
  • Proven management experience in a diverse plant operations role.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to give clear instruction concisely and accurately.
  • Significant management and leadership abilities highlighted by previous experience of discipline and team management.
