About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ecologist to join our team as a Technical Director. As a Technical Director, you will be responsible for leading our ecology team and providing technical expertise to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of technical excellence and solutions based on relevant best practice and research.
  • Supervise and review the development of standard technical solutions and verify that outputs meet expected quality standards.
  • Contribute to the development of a strategy to develop opportunities for the technical area, including identifying links between research-based projects and generating work for the wider team.
  • Contribute to planning committees, inquiries, and Expert Witness evidence.
  • Manage projects, including scope, cost/revenue budgets, third-party deliverables, and change control.
  • Negotiate and discuss fees and Terms and Conditions, bespoke contracts, and warranties.
  • Have demonstrable experience of fulfilling task timescales and achieving deadlines.
  • Complete Tetra Tech's Project Management training to Level 2.
  • Have line management responsibility, including timesheet signoff, pastoral care, and duty of care.
  • Lead the mentoring and development of staff in line with strategic goals for the technical specialism.
  • Be involved with business development activity, including having an awareness of market conditions, opportunities, and competition for the technical specialism.
About the Team

Our ecology team is a multi-award-winning team that has recently won the CIEEM Large Consultancy of the Year and Large Scale Mitigation project in 2023. We have over 95 permanent ecologists across 13 offices working as one cohesive team.
