About the Role
The Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Trust Doctor to join its Congenital Cardiac Surgery team. As a key member of the multidisciplinary team, you will work closely with Consultant Congenital Cardiac Surgeons, Paediatric and Adult Congenital Cardiologists, and the wider team to provide exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Consultant Surgeons in the operating theatre for 2-3 days per week
- Support cardiac ICUs and wards
- Attend weekly multidisciplinary meetings and departmental audit meetings
- Participate in the 1:5 non-resident on-call rota for the Congenital Cardiac Surgery Service

Person Specification
- MRCS 1 or equivalent at time of application
- Eligibility for full registration with, and hold a current licence to practise from, the GMC at intended start date
- Evidence of achievement of ST3 competences in congenital cardiac surgery or equivalent at time of application
- Training in adult cardiac surgery and preferably has experience in congenital cardiac surgery
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- Advanced Life Support Certificate from the Resuscitation Council UK or equivalent (as required to complete Foundation competences) by intended start date
- Is up to date and fit to practise safely and is aware of own training needs
Language Skills
- All applicants to have demonstrable skills in written and spoken English adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues demonstrated by one of the following:
- Applicants have undertaken undergraduate medical training in English;
- or
- Academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS) results showing a score of at least in each domain (speaking, listening, reading, writing),with an overall score of at least , to be achieved in a single sitting and within 24 months of the time of application
