Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Gynaecology Consultant to join our team at The Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust. As a key member of our Gynaecology department, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, leading a team of healthcare professionals, and contributing to the development of our services.

Main Duties
  • Providing general gynaecology clinics, including regular day case and inpatient operating lists to maintain emergency gynaecology skills
  • Administrative duties, with access to office space and secretarial support
  • Hot week cover for acute gynaecology, including ward rounds and on-call duties
  • Leading and managing a team of healthcare professionals, including junior staff and medical students
  • Participating in departmental and trust matters concerning clinical governance and audit
  • Ensuring active participation in continuing medical education (CME)

  • Essential:
    • Demonstrates intelligent and analytical approach to problem-solving
    • Good time management
    • Computer literate
    • Ability to contribute to the development of the Trust and its services
    • Ability to organise and manage outpatient priorities and theatre lists
    • Experience of audit
    • Ability and willingness to work within the Trust and NHS performance framework and targets
    • Ability to manage and lead junior staff
  • Desirable:
    • Possess good organisational and personal management skills
    • Evidence of personal contributions to service development
    • Awareness of the current UK healthcare system and the need to develop services in line with current policy
    • Ability to manage, motivate, and lead a service
    • Ability to advise on efficient and smooth running of the service
