**Job Summary**

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at Link Consultants. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and delivering mechanical designs to facilitate safe and compliant installations on site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designing mechanical systems in conjunction with fire strategy reports, local building regulations, and planning authority requirements.
  • Attending design team meetings and collaborating with colleagues to ensure effective project delivery.
  • Carrying out site surveys of existing installations where applicable to inform design decisions.
  • Producing heating and cooling load calculations using industry software.
  • Sizing and selecting mechanical equipment, including air handling units, fan coils, extract fans, pumps, chillers, and boilers.
  • Producing above ground drainage calculations and sizing drainage systems.
  • Sizing and selecting domestic hot and cold-water equipment, including heaters and storage tanks.
  • Producing pipe and duct sizing calculations using industry software or desktop spreadsheets.
  • Sizing and selecting firefighting sprinkler and pumping systems.
  • Preparing design reports and presentations for stakeholders.
  • Detailing mechanical layouts and schematics for construction.
  • Meeting project delivery deadlines and ensuring timely completion of tasks.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in mechanical engineering for the construction industry.
  • Mechanical engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Good knowledge of industry standards, including CIBSE, IEC, BS, IS, and EN standards.
  • Working knowledge of design software, such as Hevacomp, Carrier HAP, CyMap, and IES/TAS.
  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment and adapt to new challenges.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
