Job Description

We're seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Wolverhampton. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you'll play a critical role in the creation and implementation of mechanical designs for our construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with our design team to develop mechanical designs that meet fire strategy reports, local building regulations, and planning authority requisites.
  2. Participate in design team meetings to ensure seamless project execution.
  3. Conduct surveys of existing installations as needed to inform design decisions.
  4. Generate thermal models for heating/cooling, ventilation load calculations, and utilize industry-specific software to optimize system performance.
  5. Select and size various equipment, including AHUs, FCUs, extract fans, pumps, chillers, ASHP, boilers, plate heat exchangers, and more.
  6. Formulate above-ground drainage calculations and system sizing to ensure efficient water management.
  7. Choose domestic hot and cold-water equipment and perform necessary calculations to ensure safe and reliable water supply.
  8. Conduct pipe and duct sizing calculations using industry software or spreadsheets to ensure accurate system design.
  9. Develop detailed mechanical layouts and schematics for construction projects.
  10. Ensure timely project delivery by coordinating with cross-functional teams.
  11. Generate comprehensive design and survey reports to document project progress.

Requirements

  1. Extensive experience in Mechanical Engineering within the construction industry.
  2. Mechanical Engineering Degree or an equivalent qualification.
  3. Proficient knowledge of CIBSE, IEC, BS, IS & EN Irish, UK standards, or ASHRAE.
  4. Proficiency in design software like Hevacomp, Carrier HAP, CyMap, IES/TAS is necessary.
  5. Adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  6. Excellent communication skills.
