Purpose of the Role
We are seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to contribute to the development and improvement of innovative products within our dynamic team. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality, performance, and customer satisfaction.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- Lead the entire product lifecycle from conception to launch, incorporating best practices throughout the development process.
- Develop robust product specifications that align with industry standards, regulations, and customer requirements.
- Deliver comprehensive design solutions for both standard and bespoke products, adhering to established NPD stage gate processes.
- Implement a rigorous design release and engineering change control system to ensure seamless product evolution.
- Utilize FMEA methodologies to enhance the integrity of designs, ensuring compliance with specifications and promoting consistency in manufacturing.
- Employ VAVE and Lean techniques to optimize product quality, cost-effectiveness, and time-to-market.
- Champion a modular design framework to enhance flexibility and scalability across our product portfolio.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth integration of designs into production processes.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and implementing best practice design principles within the team.
Key Outputs
- Detailed 3D models and technical drawings that meet stringent customer specifications.
- Data integration into driveworks for seamless product management and manufacturing processes.
- Effective communication of design intent through APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) to key stakeholders.
- Comprehensive design documentation readily available for production teams.
- Administration of the engineering change control process to ensure efficient product updates.
Key Requirements for the Role
- Proven expertise in mechanical product design, with a strong understanding of relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Proficiency in 3D design software, particularly SolidWorks and driveworks.
- Experience in conducting quantitative value analysis (VAVE) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) studies.
- Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) simulations for product validation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical information to diverse audiences.
- A creative problem-solving mindset and a passion for developing innovative solutions.
