The Central Production Team at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Team Leader Chef to join our team. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for leading a team of chefs in the preparation and cooking of meals to the highest standard for both our restaurants and patients.
Main Responsibilities- Organize the preparation and cooking of meals to meet the required standards, including special diets and function work.
- Ensure the highest standards of hygiene and food safety are maintained at all times.
- Lead a team of chefs in the kitchen, providing guidance and support to ensure the smooth operation of the kitchen.
- Develop and implement menus that meet the dietary needs of our patients and customers.
- Manage the kitchen budget and ensure that all resources are used efficiently.
- Collaborate with the Head Chef and other senior chefs to ensure that the kitchen is running smoothly and efficiently.
- Develop and implement training programs for chefs to improve their skills and knowledge.
- Ensure that all food is stored and handled safely and that all kitchen equipment is properly maintained.
- Monitor and report on kitchen performance, including food quality, safety, and efficiency.
Our Central Production Team produces over 3,500 meals daily and has achieved the Silver 'Food for Life' Catering Mark Accreditation. We pride ourselves on providing fresh, healthy, seasonal, traceable, and sustainable food to our patients and customers.
Person Specification- Significant experience in a similar environment.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to motivate and develop a team of chefs.
- Good knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Ability to work flexibly and be part of a team.
- Good command of spoken and written English.
