Chartered Association of Business Schools seeks a Secretariat Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our governance functions.

The successful candidate will provide administrative support to the Council (Board of Trustees), the Small Business Charter Management Board, and various committees.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Provide administrative support to ensure the effective governance of our organisation, including the Council (Board of Trustees), the Small Business Charter Management Board, and committees.
  • Prepare agendas, papers, and minutes for the Council, the Small Business Charter Management Board, and committees.
  • Brief chairs prior to meetings and follow up on actions.
  • Ensure Boards and committees are constituted and managed according to our Royal Charter bylaws and relevant terms of reference.
  • Organise elections, appointments, and onboarding of trustees and committee members effectively and in line with bylaws, terms of reference, membership engagement KPIs, and our commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Monitor governance performance and identify areas for improvement.
Requirements:
  • Significant knowledge and experience of governance gained through company secretarial or governance roles.
  • Experience working with Boards, committees, and senior executives.
  • Familiarity with the Charity Commission and experience managing compliance, preferably within a not-for-profit or membership body.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and balance priorities under time pressure.
  • Strong research, analytical, planning, and organisational skills.
