The Governance Support Officer role at the University of Kent requires a highly skilled and experienced individual to provide professional expertise and support to the Assistant Director (Governance) and the Head of Secretariat. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering day-to-day secretariat services to the academic and corporate governance committees, focusing on matters related to providing secretariat services and project support for the governance structure of Council, Senate, and their boards and subcommittees.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality administrative support to the AD Governance and Head of Secretariat, ensuring the delivery of excellent secretariat services to the University's governance committees.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of strategies to enhance committee effectiveness and efficiency, aligning with the University's strategic objectives.
  • Collaborate with the AD Governance and Head of Secretariat in managing committee membership, recruitment, and training, ensuring the smooth operation of governance structures.
  • Develop and maintain effective communication channels across the University, ensuring that stakeholders receive accurate and timely information.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve governance processes and procedures, contributing to the enhancement of the University's reputation and credibility.
Essential Requirements
  • Degree in a relevant field or equivalent qualification/experience.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role within higher education or a related sector.
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality administrative support to senior management in large, complex organizations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to build relationships with stakeholders, including senior executives and committee members.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills, with ability to prioritize tasks, manage workload, and meet deadlines.

Estimated Salary: £42,000 - £55,000 per annum, depending on experience.
