About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Nursing Associate to join our team in the Children's Emergency Department at Stoke Mandeville Hospital.

\

This is a challenging and rewarding role, offering the opportunity to develop your clinical skills and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Job Summary

\

This is a full-time position, working 37.5 hours per week. The salary for this role is £25,655 - £31,383 per annum, depending on experience.

\

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of child health and development, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

\

Key Responsibilities

\
  • \
  • Provide direct patient care to an allocated group of children or young people.\
  • Undertake all required patient observations and report any results outside of normal parameters to the nurse in charge or named supervisor.\
  • Promote, monitor, and maintain a healthy, safe, and secure environment for children, young people, patients, and their families.\
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with children, young people, and their families.\
  • Ensure that all patient care is documented, and that all relevant documentation is completed accurately and within agreed timescales in accordance with NMC standards for records and record keeping.\
  • Communicate with children and young people and their families about their care and what is expected to happen, answering any general inquiries and signposting them to facilities should this be required.\
  • Follow the treatment plan for children and young people and administer medication where appropriate and within the scope of professional practice.\
  • Maintain confidentiality about the child/young people's admission and treatment at all times.\

Requirements

  • A degree in Nursing or equivalent qualification.\
  • Experience of working in a children's emergency department or similar setting.\
  • Strong understanding of child health and development.\
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.\
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team.\
  • Able to prioritize tasks and manage workload efficiently.\
  • Able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.\
  • Able to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.\
