About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Procurement Manager to join our team at St George's Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. As a Capital & Major Projects Procurement Manager, you will play a key role in managing the procurement process for capital projects, ensuring that they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the pipeline of upcoming capital projects, working closely with stakeholders to pre-plan procurements and maximize effectiveness.
  • Build and maintain excellent working relationships with stakeholders, providing trusted procurement advice and guidance.
  • Undertake procurements for construction, IT, clinical equipment, and other capital items, selecting the most appropriate procurement route for each project.
  • Manage high-value major project procurements, ensuring that they are delivered efficiently and effectively.
Requirements
  • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of three years' procurement experience, with a minimum of three years as a recognized negotiator and two years as a lead.
  • Experience of working in a customer-focused environment, with advanced complex negotiation and contracting skills.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate large and complex projects, with a thorough understanding of commercial issues and purchasing techniques.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Relevant business qualification, such as an MBA or equivalent.
  • Experience of working in the NHS or public sector, with a minimum of three years' procurement experience in healthcare services provision.
  • Knowledge of procurement systems, Word, and Excel, with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
Person Specification
  • Excellent comprehension, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong persuasion and influencing skills, with the ability to lead and implement change in a challenging environment.
  • Vendor management and development skills, with a thorough understanding of commercial issues and purchasing techniques.
  • Ability to manage multiple contracts, ensuring best value for money and high service levels.
