Capital & Major Projects Procurement Manager

Our client, an NHS trust, is seeking two experienced Capital & Major Projects Procurement Managers to join their newly established procurement team. This is a rare opportunity to apply for a development role at a senior level.

The successful candidates will be responsible for managing the pipeline of upcoming capital projects with stakeholder groups, collaboratively pre-planning procurements to maximise effectiveness. They will build and manage excellent working relationships with stakeholders and act as their trusted procurement advisors.

The role will involve undertaking procurements for construction, IT, clinical equipment, and other capital items, selecting the appropriate procurement route for each. The procurement values will range from £50,000 to over £50 million.

The Capital & Major Projects Team is responsible for delivering high-value, complex projects. We are looking for individuals who can build productive relationships with stakeholders and persuade them to procure in a way that will optimise value.

Upon arrival, the successful candidates will undertake a skills gap analysis and receive training and coaching from the Head of Procurement - Capital & Major Projects (HCMP) or other SWLPP staff to resolve any gaps. This may include areas such as:

  • FTS and non-FTS Tendering
  • Structured pre-procurement market engagement
  • How to select the optimal procurement route
  • Contract drafting - Key contract schedules and clauses and proofing the contract against cost-pressure variations
  • Stakeholder Management
  • Lessons Learnt Analysis
