Homelessness Prevention Officer Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Homelessness Prevention Officer to join our team in Tamworth. This is a challenging yet rewarding role that requires a proactive, problem-solving approach to addressing homelessness.

The successful candidate will have experience in customer-facing roles, with a strong understanding of the complexities surrounding homelessness. They will be responsible for carrying a caseload of prevention cases and homeless applications, making key decisions under the Housing Act 1996 Part VII, and providing out-of-hours support on a rota basis.

A key aspect of this role is building effective partnerships with local stakeholders to develop innovative solutions to housing problems. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work as part of a team.

This is a hybrid working contract, requiring the successful candidate to work 22.2 hours per week on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. A full driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential requirements for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry a caseload of prevention cases/homeless applications
  • Make s184 decisions under the Housing Act 1996 Part VII as amended by the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017
  • Use your own initiative in making enquiries and being innovative when carrying out investigations
  • Provide out-of-hours homelessness cover on a pro-rata, rota basis

Salary: £30,060 - £32,654 per annum (pro rata), plus essential car user allowance
