We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team in delivering high-quality services to those at risk of being homeless or those who are homeless in Tamworth, a vibrant town with rich heritage in Staffordshire.

This role requires a proactive, problem-solving approach to the prevention of homelessness, committed to partnership working and finding new solutions to housing problems. Key responsibilities include carrying a caseload of prevention cases/homeless applications, making s184 decisions under the Housing Act 1996 Part VII as amended by the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, and using your own initiative in making enquiries and being innovative when carrying out investigations.

The successful candidate will have experience of working in a customer-focused role, interviewing customers to assess whether homelessness can be prevented in a sensitive, customer-focused way, meeting the needs of vulnerable customers while managing expectations.

We require excellent communication and negotiation skills, the ability to work as part of a team, and to provide out-of-hours homelessness cover on a pro-rata, rota basis. A full driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential for this post.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry a caseload of prevention cases/homeless applications
  • Make s184 decisions under the Housing Act 1996 Part VII as amended by the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017
  • Use your own initiative in making enquiries and being innovative when carrying out investigations
  • Provide out-of-hours homelessness cover on a pro-rata, rota basis

Salary: £30,060 - £32,654 per annum (pro rata), plus essential car user allowance

Working Hours: 22.2 hours per week, Wednesday-Friday, hybrid working contract
