About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Recovery Champion. As a key member of our community outreach team, you will play a vital role in promoting harm reduction and supporting individuals affected by drugs and alcohol.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide a welcoming and consistent environment in open access areas, promoting a sense of community and inclusivity.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local communities, identifying individuals who may benefit from our services and connecting them with relevant support.
  • Collaborate with team members to share best practices and develop innovative solutions to support our clients.
  • Meet with individuals to discuss their personal goals and support needs, providing guidance and resources to aid in their recovery journey.
  • Utilize existing local resources and build community awareness, signposting individuals to relevant agencies and services.
  • Work closely with the Volunteer and Peer Mentor Coordinator to identify specialist advice and support opportunities.
About You:

We are looking for an individual with lived experience of drug or alcohol misuse, who possesses excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt to different communication styles.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on collaboration and mutual support.
  • Confident in working with individuals who may present with complex needs, remaining empathetic and non-judgmental at all times.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure, with a strong focus on maintaining a safe and supportive environment.
  • Willingness to travel as required, including areas with limited public transportation.
