Role Overview:

Barnardo's, the UK's largest Children's Charity, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Senior Residential Support Worker to join our Leicestershire Residential Team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to children and young people in our residential homes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build trusting relationships with service users, promoting their independence, wellbeing, and personal growth.
  • Work collaboratively with parents, carers, and other professionals to ensure seamless support and care.
  • Lead and support Residential Support Workers in their daily duties, promoting a positive and inclusive team environment.
  • Contribute to the upkeep of our homes, including cooking, cleaning, and maintaining a safe and welcoming environment.
  • Accurately document information and maintain up-to-date records, ensuring the highest standards of care and support.
  • Ensure the implementation and adherence to safeguarding policies and procedures, prioritizing the safety and well-being of our service users.

Requirements:

  • Hold a Level 3 qualification relevant to Residential Childcare or be willing to complete this within the required timeframe.
  • Have relevant experience working with children and young people, with a strong understanding of their needs and challenges.
  • Possess at least one year of supervisory and shift leader experience in a residential care setting, with a proven track record of leadership and teamwork.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures, with a commitment to maintaining a safe and supportive environment.
  • Exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues, service users, and external partners.
  • Be flexible and willing to commit to sleep-ins and shift work, including weekends and bank holidays, on a rota basis.
