Job Title: Design Technology Technician

We are seeking a highly organized and skilled Design Technology Technician to join our dynamic and inclusive secondary school in Brent, London. As a key member of our Design and Technology department, you will play a vital role in supporting our teachers in delivering high-quality practical lessons and ensuring the smooth running of the department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Equipment Management: Prepare, set up, and maintain equipment, tools, and materials for Design Technology lessons, including woodwork, metalwork, electronics, and textiles.
  • Technical Support: Assist teachers during practical lessons, providing technical support and guidance to students.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure the safe use and storage of equipment and materials, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Maintenance and Repairs: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on Design Technology equipment and machinery.
  • Stock Management: Manage and order stock and supplies for the department, keeping accurate records.
  • Student Support: Support students in developing their practical skills and understanding of Design Technology concepts.
  • Display and Events: Assist in the creation and maintenance of displays showcasing students' work and contribute to the organization and execution of Design Technology projects, exhibitions, and events.
  • Administrative Tasks: Undertake administrative tasks as required by the Design Technology department.
Requirements:
  • Qualifications: Relevant qualifications or experience in a technical, engineering, or design-related field.
  • Practical Experience: Practical experience with a variety of Design Technology equipment and tools.
  • Health and Safety: Strong understanding of health and safety procedures within a workshop environment.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and students.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Previous Experience: Previous experience in a school setting (desirable but not essential).
