Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Transport Operations Coordinator to support the delivery of exceptional customer service through efficient transport operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and executing transport activities in a cost-effective and profitable manner.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Support the planning of all transport activities to ensure efficient and profitable operations.
  2. Liaise with customers to ensure scheduling gaps are filled and route notifications are submitted in advance.
  3. Coordinate with vehicle workshops to ensure vehicles and trailers are available for maintenance and inspection dates.
  4. Provide a point of contact for drivers and second men to ensure jobs are running to time and customers are updated on any delays.
  5. Ensure all jobs are accurately entered into the Transport Management System.
  6. Provide quotations to customers outlining the Company's T&Cs and incorporating inclusions and exclusions.
  7. Support the Health & Safety of colleagues across the business.
  8. Respond quickly to customer calls and emails.
  9. Be flexible to cover other job roles in the department during periods of annual leave.
  10. Coordinate with other business departments to support better lines of communication.
  11. Provide an out-of-hours point of contact to support live transport operations.
  12. Manage driver holidays to ensure continuity of service across the fleet.
  13. Provide regular feedback to operational managers on driver and second man performance.
  14. Support the implementation of business initiatives and strategy through the transport fleet.

Qualifications / Skills
  1. Previous experience routing a fleet of HGVs.
  2. Previous experience working with abnormal loads.
  3. Full driving licence.
  4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  5. Good IT skills - Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  6. Excellent organisation skills.
  7. The ability to work as part of a team as well as on your own initiative.
