Electrical and Mechanical Installation Technician

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a skilled technician to join its Estates & Facilities Management Team. The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, enabling them to work effectively across both disciplines.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Carry out specialist installations and repairs on power, lighting, nurse call, fire alarms, and intruder alarms, including programming and operational instructions.
  • Activate power changeover plant and safely isolate from generators or local networks in the event of a malfunction.
  • Work safely on standby electrical systems such as 400V generators and UPS systems.
  • Design and carry out electrical installation work, diagnosing and repairing faults according to IEE Wiring Regulations.

Job Requirements:Key Skills:
  • Test, diagnose, and repair faults on engineering and/or electrical and plumbing installations, plant, and equipment.
  • Understand mechanical and/or electrical and plumbing systems within NHS buildings.
Person Specification:Training & Qualifications:
  • Recognised and registered EITB, City & Guilds qualification or approved training.
Experience:
  • Similar specialist role experience in commercial or industrial building services engineering environments, demonstrating flexibility across multiple specialist elements.

The estimated salary for this position is £45,000 - £60,000 per annum, reflecting the importance of this role in maintaining the trust's infrastructure and facilities.
