Job Overview

The Clinical Pharmacy Service at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is a highly respected and dynamic team. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated pharmacist to join our team as the Principal Pharmacist for Clinical Services, covering a fixed-term position for up to 12 months.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the clinical services team at the Denmark Hill Site
  • Deputise for the Associate Chief Pharmacist and work closely with the Deputy Chief Pharmacist for Clinical Services
  • Provide clinical commitment and act as a role model to manage the pharmaceutical care of patients
  • Support the operational running of the clinical service, including the management of both weekday and weekend rotas
  • Deliver induction and training to clinical pharmacy staff in relation to approved clinical pharmacy policies and procedures
  • Act as a specialist role model and expert in a clinical field
  • Ensure a high level of clinical input across the pharmacy service
  • Develop and implement guidelines and policies for the use of medicines
  • Develop the clinical pharmacy service
  • Teach and train within the Trust and externally
  • Identify and promote best practice
  • Lead and complete Trust medicines management or pharmacy clinical services audit, benchmarking and self-assessment tools and quality improvement projects
  • Support the on-call pharmacy service
  • Act as the Lead Pharmacist for Radiology and Occupational Health and support in directorate work
Requirements
  • Registered Pharmacist MRPharmS (1 year competency assessed and examined professional registration)
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or Pharmacy Practice
  • Registered independent prescriber or willingness to complete

  • Experience of managing others
  • Experience of working with senior healthcare professionals outside of pharmacy
  • Demonstration of advanced practice using evidence mapped to the RPS Advanced Practice Framework
