The NHS is seeking a highly skilled Biochemistry Support Specialist to join our team in the Automated Chemistry section. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for assisting with the operation of automated analysers, performing routine maintenance tasks, and providing exceptional patient care.

About the Role

We are looking for an individual who possesses a strong academic background, with oGCSE's grades A-C/4-9 or above in Science, Maths & English or equivalent level of qualification/equivalent demonstrable experience. The ideal candidate will have a proven understanding of health and safety issues, as well as knowledge of tests performed and sent away by the department.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • • Assisting with the operation of automated analysers, including maintenance and troubleshooting
    • Performing routine maintenance tasks, such as replenishing consumables and following standard operating procedures
    • Providing exceptional patient care, including preparing biological material for analysis and analysing samples following standard operating procedures
    • Assisting reception staff with the receipt of samples, sample preparation, and data entry

Salary Information

The estimated salary for this role is £26,000 - £33,000 per annum, depending on experience. This is a full-time position, working 37 hours per week, with a 24/7 rota and EWD/Weekend rota in Reception/Automation.
