Job Overview:

The role of the Automated Chemistry Specialist at NHS is to provide exceptional support in the laboratory, ensuring timely and accurate processing of patient samples. This position requires a strong understanding of automated chemistry analysers and the ability to work effectively with senior staff and support teams.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To assist with the operation and maintenance of automated track and HbA1c analysers in the Biochemistry section.
  • To participate in Automated Chemistry stock checks and reagent management.
  • To replenish consumables in the Automated Chemistry Section.
  • To follow Standard Operating Procedures relating to each section/area.
  • To be available for the 24/7 rota and EWD/Weekend rota in Reception/Automation.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • A proven understanding of the need for patient confidentiality.
  • A solid knowledge of Health & Safety issues.
  • A thorough knowledge of tests performed and sent away by the department.
  • A valid O-Levels (or equivalent) in Science, Maths, and English grades A-C/4-9 or above.
  • An appropriate NVQ-in either Business and Admin or laboratory based.

Salary: The salary for this position is estimated to be around £25,000 - £35,000 per annum, depending on experience.
