The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Metadata Librarian to lead our metadata team and drive the development of metadata standards and best practices. As a key member of our library team, you will be responsible for managing the creation, extraction, enhancement, and quality control of library metadata. You will work closely with our Heads of Modern and Special Collections and the Digital Systems Librarian to ensure that our library collections are discoverable and accessible to our users.

You will have the ability to transform and manipulate metadata using supporting tools like MarcEdit and OpenRefine to improve the discovery experience for library users. You will also provide leadership for our discovery policies and procedures according to national and international standards, including RDA and related technologies.

About You

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Metadata Librarian who is passionate about metadata and its role in delivering exceptional user experiences. You will have a strong understanding of metadata standards and best practices, as well as experience working with metadata tools and technologies.

You will be a natural leader, able to inspire and motivate your team to deliver high-quality results. You will also be a strong communicator, able to work effectively with colleagues across the organization to achieve our goals.
