About the Role

The Development Team Lead is a key position at Teenage Helpline, responsible for overseeing the charity's software and website development. This role involves collaborating with other team leads, managing workload, developing solutions, and planning new work with IT Project Managers.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with IT Project Managers to ensure development projects are assigned and worked on.
  • Forecast work through the creation of development plans.
  • Promote best practices such as adhering to the project's software development lifecycle requirements.
  • Develop CI/CD pipelines for continuous integration, testing, and delivery.
  • Manage the Development Team, ensuring work is allocated, managed, and tracked effectively.
  • Identify opportunities for new solutions and improvements in Teenage Helpline's IT infrastructure and operations.
  • Oversee the Development Team's involvement with IT projects to ensure software development best practices are upheld, documentation such as data diagrams are created, and relevant testing is completed.
  • Advise on the direction of development through clear reasoning and justification.
  • Collaborate with UI/UX Designers to deliver on website design.
Requirements
  • Enthusiasm and willingness to learn about Teenage Helpline's IT systems and processes.
  • Passion for website and software development and how it can create value for Teenage Helpline's operations.
  • Interest in establishing and adopting new ways of working to engage the Development Team in progressing with objectives.
  • Strong IT skills and proficient use of Microsoft applications.
  • Software engineering, programming, website development, and software development experience.
  • Experience with JavaScript, CSS, and HTML.
  • Familiarity with frameworks and libraries such as React and AngularJS.
  • Understanding of relevant software engineering and security by design principles such as the Software Development Lifecycle and OWASP.
