Welcome to the Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE), where you can contribute to groundbreaking scientific research while developing your career as a High-Power Systems Specialist. Our team is looking for an individual with a degree in Physics or Electrical Engineering and extensive experience in delivering high-power projects.

This role includes a competitive annual salary of £58,000-£68,000, based on qualifications and experience.

You will be responsible for designing, constructing, and commissioning high-power systems generating multi-terawatt pulses of RF electromagnetic power and their application in producing radiation bursts. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to travel to the US, France, and within the UK to represent the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver high-power projects with at least one or more of the following aspects: pulsed power, radiofrequency technologies, electron beam control, and high voltage design.
  • Lead technical projects and/or task management.
  • Plan and safely execute hazardous experimentation trials.
  • Understand power distribution, including power network modelling and analysis.
