About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a pioneering Research Centre for Climate in Cambridge, UK.

As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for providing leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight to the Centre team.

You will play a key role in managing relationships internally and externally, and transitioning the Centre into its next phase of development.

The Centre brings leading academic research and thought leadership to business and government leaders to drive climate action. Salary: £68,863 - £79,800 per annum (pro rata) based on 0.8 FTE for 12 months FTC.
Working Pattern: 30 hours per week Monday to Friday (occasional weekend work)

Main Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan for the Centre, aligning with the University's goals and objectives.
  2. Lead and mentor a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
  3. Secure funding and develop donor relationships to support the Centre's mission and goals.
  4. Oversee financial planning and management, ensuring robust financial practices and compliance with relevant regulations.
  5. Nurture partnerships with key University entities and external stakeholders to drive climate action.
  6. Drive engagement with the Hughes Hall community and serve as a liaison between the Centre and the wider university.
  7. Coordinate the activities of the Centre's Oversight Committee and Advisory Group.
  8. Represent the Centre at high-profile events and networking opportunities.
Person Specification
  • A strong passion for climate change science and policy.
  • Substantial executive-level experience, preferably in a research or academic environment.
  • Proven ability to influence senior individuals and build relationships at all levels.
  • A proven track record of securing funding and developing donor relationships.
  • A strong understanding of climate change policy, law, and sustainability principles.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, including the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to think strategically and lead change initiatives.
