About the Project:

The Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence is embarking on a groundbreaking project aimed at developing a benchmark for measuring the ability of Artificial Intelligence (AI) agents on real-world data science tasks. This two-year initiative seeks to push the boundaries of AI research by fostering collaboration between experts from various disciplines, including Computer Science, AI, cognitive science, and others. As a part-time Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in shaping this project's success by contributing your expertise in creating the interface for AI agents, running experiments with baseline agents, designing the benchmark's structure, and developing tasks for it.

Your primary responsibilities will include working independently and collaboratively as part of the Kinds of Intelligence team, leveraging your technical skills to drive project progress, and assisting in the design and development of tasks for the benchmark. To be successful in this role, you should possess a solid understanding of programming principles, particularly in Python, as well as experience with Linux operating systems, version control systems, and computing servers.

The salary for this position is £25,000-£30,000 per annum, commensurate with qualifications and experience. You will also benefit from working in a stimulating research environment that encourages innovation and collaboration.
