We are seeking a seasoned Commercial Director to lead our Flooring product line at Forterra plc. As a key member of our commercial team, you will be responsible for driving business growth, improving profitability, and developing strategic relationships with customers.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading manufacturer of concrete and clay building products, offering a diverse range of products used extensively in the construction sector. Our product portfolio includes clay bricks, Thermalite blocks, aggregate blocks, Red Bank chimney, roofing and flue systems, precast concrete, and flooring products, as well as Formpave permeable paving.

Your primary focus will be on the precast concrete flooring product lines, where you will provide leadership and direction for the sales, commercial, and customer service functions. You will work closely with the brick and block commercial team to ensure effective working in a matrix structure and promote the commercial benefits of our broad product offering.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accountable for the overall profitability of the Bison flooring business, focusing on revenue growth, product margin management, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Establish clear sector and customer reporting to track sales, price, and margin performance against budget/forecast, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  • Lead performance reviews of the sales team and customer strategies, product effectiveness, and service delivery using agreed KPIs.
  • Proactively identify achievements, shortfalls, and areas for improvement against business plans and implement corrective actions.
Leadership
  • Take the lead in building and maintaining commercial and technical relationships with key customers.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the sales, commercial, and customer service functions across the relevant product lines.
  • Strengthen current commercial opportunities while developing new customer opportunities within and across Forterra plc.
  • Contribute to the development of current and new flooring products to market, acting as a key liaison with external parties, including trade associations.
Business and Resource Planning
  • Contribute to business line strategic plans, annual budget preparation, and reforecasts.
  • Develop strategic commercial plans to achieve annual revenue, margin, market share, and profit targets.
  • Develop a resource plan to recruit and train personnel and maintain workable succession plans.
  • Contribute to continuous business process improvement through best practice adoption.
Customer Service
  • Embed a proactive approach to customer service into the business.
  • Ensure effective measures are utilized to drive customer focus and service levels to industry-leading levels.
  • Create customer satisfaction measures and resulting improvement plans.
About the Role

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong commercial acumen, leadership skills, and the ability to drive business growth.
