The University of Edinburgh is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to fill the role of Laboratory Support Manager in its School of Biological Sciences.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic team of 13 technical staff, delivering taught undergraduate and postgraduate laboratory programs, supporting over 1000 students across various disciplines in the biological sciences.

As Laboratory Support Manager, you will be responsible for supervising a team of four technical staff based in the Ashworth laboratory. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the safe and efficient running of the labs, implementing health and safety policies, and maintaining equipment.

You will also provide technical support to postgraduate taught (PGT) laboratory activities, working closely with the PGT academic teaching team to determine their long-term and week-to-week needs.

To succeed in this role, you should have a relevant scientific qualification (HNC/HND, BSc) and proven technical abilities gained from work in similar environments. A passion for biological sciences and experience in practical teaching or research laboratories are essential.

Your excellent communication skills, knowledge of health and safety policies, and flexibility to adapt to changing situations will enable you to excel as Laboratory Support Manager.
