As a Laboratory Technical Assistant at Edinburgh Napier University's School of Applied Sciences, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of high-quality education and research in the biomedical science section.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art laboratory environment, collaborating with experienced technical staff to prepare laboratory practical classes and maintain the overall cleanliness and organization of the laboratory space.

Key responsibilities will include:

  1. Setting up and clearing away equipment for practical classes.
  2. Maintaining accurate records of laboratory inventory and supplies.
  3. Ensuring proper disposal of hazardous waste and maintaining a safe working environment.
  4. Providing technical support to students and academic staff as needed.

In addition to your technical expertise, you will also contribute to a positive and inclusive team environment, supporting the learning and research endeavors of the school.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • GCSE Science Higher or equivalent level education, or relevant experience.
  • A solid understanding of laboratory protocols and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Familiarity with Health and Safety regulations and guidelines.
Benefits and Salary

We offer an attractive benefits package, including a pension scheme with employer contributions of 17.6%, minimum of 41 days holiday (pro-rated accordingly), opportunities for professional development, and various other perks.

The salary for this role is £22,728 - £25,433 per annum (depending on experience). This is a full-time position with 35 hours per week.
