Engineering Modeller for Sustainable Tidal Power

We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join the Environmental Fluid Mechanics research group at the University of Oxford. The post is funded by EPSRC and is fixed-term for 3 years with the possibility of extension.
The role involves developing integrated whole system design models of tidal stream turbines for renewable power generation. You will work on the EPSRC-funded programme CoTide that is developing whole system engineering models and innovative designs for tidal energy systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developing and integrating complex models and software.
- Collaborating with the entire programme team and industry partners to develop whole system engineering tools.
- Modeling the interactions between hydrodynamics, structural mechanics, fatigue, and system reliability.
- Exploring how design and control can balance performance objectives.
- Using optimisation and control co-design to understand and optimise key design drivers.
You should possess a relevant PhD (or be near completion) in Engineering or a related discipline, have a strong background in developing integrated engineering models, and possess a relevant background in fluid mechanics, structural mechanics, or systems modelling. Excellent communication skills are essential.
Estimated Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum.
