Oxford, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom University of Oxford Full time
We are looking for an experienced researcher to join our team as a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Integrated Engineering Models for Tidal Energy Systems. As part of our Environmental Fluid Mechanics research group at the University of Oxford's Department of Engineering Science, you will contribute to the development of innovative tidal energy systems.

Our team is working on the EPSRC-funded programme CoTide, which aims to develop whole system engineering models and cutting-edge designs for tidal energy. Your primary responsibility will be to lead the development of integrated whole system design models of tidal stream turbines for renewable power generation. This involves collaborating with the programme team and industry partners to create holistic models covering all aspects of tidal stream turbine design.

You will receive a competitive salary of £35,895 per annum, along with excellent benefits, including a pension scheme, health insurance, and generous annual leave. Additionally, you will have access to top-notch facilities and equipment, making it an ideal opportunity for professional growth and development. If you're passionate about sustainable energy solutions, we encourage you to apply.

About the Role: As a Postdoctoral Research Assistant, you will be responsible for:
  • Designing and developing integrated whole system design models of tidal stream turbines.
  • Collaborating with the programme team and industry partners to integrate and refine the models.
  • Exploring complex interactions between system hydrodynamics, structural mechanics, fatigue, and system reliability.
  • Optimising system performance through the application of control co-design principles.
