Job Description

This role is focused on accelerating SLB's growth in the Energy Transition technology space by working in low temperature electrolysis.

The ideal candidate will have experience in polymer processing and characterisation of ion conductive membranes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research and development of novel ion exchange membranes for electrochemical water splitting.
  • Implement advanced tools for characterising membrane ion conductivity measurements, crossover studies and chemical, thermal and mechanical stability investigation.
  • Evaluate strategies for improving chemical, thermal and mechanical stability in extreme pH environments.

Requirements:

  • PhD in a physical science (e.g. Chemistry, polymer chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field).
  • Demonstrated expertise in ion transport phenomena, ion conductivity, and degradation mechanisms in ion exchange membranes.
  • Experience in characterizing ion exchange membranes using relevant techniques (e.g. electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, ion chromatography).

Estimated Salary: £65,000 - £85,000 per annum, depending on experience.
