At CV Library, we are seeking a skilled Laboratory Technician in Material Sciences to join our client based in Cambridge.

About the Role:

This permanent position comes with a competitive salary of £32,300 - £38,000 per annum, paid for 36.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday).

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing laboratory operations, ensuring full potential is achieved. This includes engaging with users to identify future needs, developing specialised processes and depositions, conducting experiments and analysing and interpreting results.

In addition, the role involves offering highly specialist technical advice, ensuring safety regulations are followed by conducting risk assessments, and designing and maintaining laboratory databases for audit purposes.

Requirements:
  • Practical experience with materials deposition and processing technologies
  • Experience with vacuum technology
  • Specialist knowledge of health and safety regulations and practice
  • Good IT skills
  • High degree of precision and accuracy
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Good numerical skills
  • Knowledge in materials deposition and processing technology
  • Degree level qualification or equivalent level of practical experience
  • Weekend / out-of-hours work may be required for emergency repair and maintenance
