Civil Liberties Solicitor Opportunity

We are seeking a talented and ambitious solicitor to join our civil liberties team, specializing in actions against the police and human rights matters.

About the Role:

  • Conduct complex civil liberties cases from initiation to conclusion.
  • Assist partners and senior lawyers with their caseload, providing effective support and expertise.
  • Contribute to the development of the department, driving growth and excellence.
  • Deliver exceptional client care, taking instructions and ensuring full compliance.
  • Manage applications to the Legal Aid Agency when necessary.
  • Liaise with clients, defendants, government agencies, courts, and other parties.
  • Instruct expert witnesses and take clients' proofs of evidence.

Requirements:

  • UK qualified Solicitor with 2-5 years post-qualification experience.
  • Strong experience in civil liberties, prison law, public law, or human rights matters, including actions against the police.
  • Proven ability to manage matters throughout the full case process, including funding and billing.
  • Understanding of key legislation, including the Human Rights Act 1998, Data Protection Act 1998, Equality Act 2010, and coronial law.
  • Experience with publicly funded matters.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues.
