Civil Liberties Solicitor Opportunity

We are seeking a talented and ambitious solicitor to join our civil liberties team, specializing in human rights matters, including actions against the police, inquests, prison law, counter-terrorism, and data protection cases.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducting civil liberties cases from initiation to conclusion.
  • Assisting partners and senior lawyers with their caseload, ensuring effective management of various matters.
  • Contributing to the development of the department, including input on new initiatives and strategies.
  • Providing exceptional client care, taking instructions, and ensuring full compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Managing applications to the Legal Aid Agency when necessary.
  • Liaising with all parties, including defendants, government agencies, courts, and other stakeholders.
  • Instructing expert witnesses and gathering clients' proofs of evidence.
Requirements:
  • UK qualified Solicitor with 1-5 years post-qualification experience.
  • Strong experience in civil liberties, prison law, public law, or human rights matters, including actions against the police.
  • Proven ability to manage matters throughout the full case process, including funding and billing.
  • Understanding of key legislation, including the Human Rights Act 1998, Data Protection Act 1998, Equality Act 2010, and coronial law.
  • Experience with publicly funded matters.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues.
