Job Description:

Duncan Lewis Solicitors is a leading law firm in the UK, recognised for its excellence in Public Law. We are seeking a highly skilled Public Law Solicitor to join our dynamic team.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in civil liberties and judicial review, with experience in dealing with complex cases involving the Home Office, HMRC, local authorities, and the NHS. They will be responsible for managing a caseload of Public Law matters, including unlawful detention, false imprisonment, and abuse by detention staff and removal escorts.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in immigration and asylum law, with a strong understanding of the Legal Aid Guidance for Public Law matters. They will be able to service privately funded cases and have excellent networking and communication skills to successfully market the company and generate new business.

We are looking for a team player with a pro-active approach, excellent client care skills, and the ability to deal with client matters in a sensitive manner. The successful candidate will be committed to providing an excellent standard of service to our clients and will have a clean, valid Practising Certificate at the time of applying.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Manage a caseload of Public Law matters, including unlawful detention, false imprisonment, and abuse by detention staff and removal escorts
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to other team members
  • Assist with delivery of appropriate training and development in the department
  • Prepare and manage funding applications to the Legal Aid Agency
  • Prepare draft documents, including witness statements and processing evidence
  • Attend conferences and court
