About the Role

North Northamptonshire Council is looking for a dedicated Homelessness Prevention Specialist to join our Housing team. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in preventing homelessness by providing effective housing solutions for vulnerable clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a varied caseload of homelessness cases, prioritizing urgent situations and allocating resources effectively.
  • Lead the triage function, processing homeless applications efficiently to minimize waiting times and facilitate prompt resolution.
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders to secure suitable housing options for clients, advocating on their behalf when necessary.
  • Offer expert advice and guidance on housing matters, including homelessness applications and allocations, to ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A strong understanding of Part 7 of the Housing Act 1996, specifically in relation to homelessness law and housing allocations.
  • Proven experience in providing housing advice, including assessing homelessness applications and navigating complex cases.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to articulate complex housing issues clearly and concisely.
  • Practical experience in triage processes for homelessness applications, identifying urgent cases and allocating resources efficiently.
