Role: Assistant Capital Accountant

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the finance team at MHDV as an Assistant Capital Accountant. In this role, you will be working closely with the Capital Accountant, Finance Manager, and project management teams to assist with the day-to-day running of the capital accounts function and ensure the smooth running of the capital accounting process.

This is an ideal opportunity for a finance graduate to take on their first role in a corporate environment and gain invaluable experience in a fast-paced, commercially focused organisation.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Setting up WBS code projects on SAP once CAPEX budget is approved and paperwork is signed off
  • Raising Purchase Orders for MHDV CAPEX projects
  • Processing CAPEX Invoices and ensuring on-time payment to vendors, including setting up CAPEX vendors with the SAP vendor team
  • Communicating with the Maintenance and Hotel Development team to ensure smooth running of project spend
  • Liaising with the SAP Approval team on Capital spend (actual and budget) approval, budget reallocation when needed, and budget closure/roll forward at year end
  • Submitting required CAPEX related reports, such as committed spends as required
  • Assisting with month-end reporting, including AUC reports and reviewing AUC balance to be expensed in a timely manner
  • Ensuring completed projects are followed up right up to capitalisation stage in the books in a timely manner
  • Ensuring Tech fees are booked to capitalised projects in a timely manner and reviewing future Tech fees quarterly against projects in the pipeline to avoid exceeding capitalised amounts
  • Assisting with internal and external queries, including periodic internal audit reviews, SAP approval level reviews, and external audit
  • Ensuring compliance with Group policies and procedures at all times
  • Supporting the Capital Accountant as required, including holiday cover
  • Other ad-hoc duties, including liaising with consultants for capital allowance projects, National Statistics for CAPEX, and CAPEX related initiatives

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a finance or business-related field of study
  • Similar experience in finance accounting would be beneficial
  • Proven capability to communicate financial information to various stakeholders, especially with non-financial backgrounds
  • An eye for detail and the ability to identify errors and offer workable solutions
  • Strong systems skills with a mindset of continuous improvement
  • Personable, positive, dynamic professional who works flexibly and collaboratively to achieve deadlines
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • A disciplined approach to production and documentation of work
  • Strong team player who can demonstrate an ability to take ownership of work streams, work independently of senior management oversight, and coordinate multiple stakeholders
