Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Veterinary Clinical Anaesthetist to join our team at Laboratory Corporation in Huntingdon. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a collaborative environment where you can make a significant impact on human and animal health.

The estimated salary for this position is £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience. We offer a competitive package with enhanced pension contributions, private healthcare, on-site gym, opportunities for professional development, and no weekend or out of hours requirements.

This full-time, permanent position involves providing technical support for all clinical and Animals (Scientific) Procedures Act 1986 - A(SP)A - regulated work performed at the Animal Welfare and Veterinary Services Department. You will provide peri-operative surgical support for the veterinary team to ensure high standards of animal care and welfare are always maintained.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Named Veterinary Surgeon/s in relevant clinical work and provision of laboratory animal medical and surgical care in accordance with the Veterinary Surgeons Act and the Guidance of RCVS Code of Conduct.
  • Liaise with and support Named Animal Care and Welfare Officers in the care of the animals housed on site, in line with A(SP)A requirements and as indicated in the guidance notes to the Act.
  • Assist Named Veterinary Surgeon/s to ensure company policies and practices regarding animal care and welfare are in compliance with relevant regulations, including GLP procedures.
  • Assist in training and supervision of staff on routine regulated and husbandry procedures including anesthesia and surgery.
  • Manage surgical theatres and associated areas, including maintenance of relevant equipment, ordering of drugs and consumables, and day-to-day management of dispensary.
  • Conduct A(SP)A regulated procedures in accordance with the Personal and Project License authorities.
  • Promote and continuously implement the 3Rs principles and culture of care.
