Job Title: Transport Manager

Reports To: Depot Manager

Brief Overview:

Overseeing the daily operations of a fast-paced distribution center, ensuring efficient delivery schedules and staff management.

Key Responsibilities:

Coordinating daily delivery schedules, reviewing and updating delivery service charters as needed, and delegating tasks to staff to ensure exceptional customer satisfaction.

Core Duties:

  1. Managing the daily delivery schedule, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of goods.
  2. Reviewing and updating the delivery service charter to meet customer needs.
  3. Delegating tasks to staff, monitoring their workload, and ensuring first-class customer satisfaction.
  4. Conducting delivery crew debriefs to collect and communicate relevant information.
  5. Coordinating the Preventative Maintenance schedule for fleet vehicles and maintaining delivery equipment.
  6. Monitoring tachograph records and implementing improvement plans as needed.
  7. Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety policies and procedures.
  8. Analyzing data to monitor performance and plan improvements.
  9. Overseeing staff recruitment, training, and inductions.
  10. Ensuring adequate staff levels to cover absences and peaks in workload.
  11. Promoting staff development, training, and disciplinary matters.
  12. Administering holiday requests and absence monitoring.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborating with the Stock/warehouse team to meet depot output targets.
  2. Regular communication with office and sales teams to achieve common goals.
  3. Key holder responsibilities.
  4. Customer site visits, as required.
  5. Assisting the Depot Manager and Warehouse Manager with monthly H&S audits.

Key Skills:

  1. Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel for spreadsheets and records.
  2. Full use of the 'Trinity' system and Cyber query (training provided where necessary).
  3. Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  4. Excellent communication skills.
  5. Planning and organization skills.
  6. Adaptability in a fast-paced and changing environment.
  7. Specialist knowledge/experience of multi-drop transport operations.

Essential Requirements:

  1. Transport Manager CPC.
  2. IOSH.
  3. Previous experience managing an 'O' License fleet.
