Main Purpose of the Job

We are seeking an experienced Associate Director to join our Transport/Highways team in the South West of England. The successful candidate will have a strong background in transport planning and/or highway design, with a focus on supporting the growth of our team in the region.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing project delivery, developing staff skills, and generating new business opportunities. They will also have excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Manage projects across a range of transport planning and/or highway design areas, including site feasibility, transport assessments, travel plans, and site access design.
  2. Develop and manage a team of skilled individuals, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality technical work.
  3. Generate new business opportunities and manage existing client relationships.
  4. Liaise with clients and local/national authorities to resolve problems or issues and ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation.
What Qualifications, Experience & Skills are required?

Essential:

  • Degree in Transport, Mathematics, Geography, Civil Engineering, Planning, or a related subject.
  • A minimum of 10 years of transport planning experience, with a proven track record in winning and delivering projects.
  • Chartered with a relevant professional institution.

Preferred:

  • MSc in Transport Planning/Engineering.
  • Project management experience in a range of projects at both low and higher values.
  • Able user of junction modelling packages.
  • Knowledge of current transport and highway policy.
