Associate Director of Planning Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Associate Director to join our Land Development team in South West England. The successful candidate will support the Technical Director in managing project delivery and staff development, with a focus on transport planning and highway design.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage projects across transport planning and highway design areas, including site feasibility, Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, and site access design.
  • Develop and manage a team of skilled individuals, ensuring high-quality technical work and staff skills development.
  • Generate new opportunities and manage existing projects, preparing technical reports, strategies, and transport solutions.
  • Liaise with clients and local/national authorities, resolving problems and ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years of transport planning experience, with a proven track record in winning and delivering projects.
  • Strong ability to build client relationships and experience in highway/junction design at least at the concept and preliminary design level.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a high level of written and spoken English, and experience in delivering a range of projects across different land uses and scales.
  • Familiarity with current design codes and standards, and ability to implement traffic and transport methodologies.
