We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Controller to join our Transport Operations Compliance team in Exeter, Devon.

About the team

Our team is responsible for the supply and management of specialist equipment and vehicles, serving the Water, Energy, Transport, Data, and Telecommunication sectors.

About the role

You will be responsible for ensuring the fleet of commercial vehicles within your regional area is compliant, legal, and maintained to the highest standards at all times.

As a Maintenance Controller, you will:

  • Monitor all maintenance activities of commercial vehicles in line with Operator License Legal Undertakings, DVSA Guide to Maintaining Roadworthiness, and M Group Transport Operations Policy.
  • Build strong working relationships with commercial drivers, Operational, and Transport Managers to ensure full compliance of commercial vehicles.
  • Ensure all commercial vehicle maintenance and driver-related documentation is stored on the fleet management system (Asset Go), exception reports are actioned, and updated.
  • Liaise daily with internal and external maintenance providers to ensure maintenance is completed on time and vehicles are returned.
  • Assist your Line Manager with the transition of new business units to M Group Services, providing support at internal and external meetings, audits, or department team briefings.

What you'll bring?

  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of Operator License compliance.
  • Take ownership and responsibility, demonstrated through actions and behaviors.
  • Hold a category B Driving License and be prepared to attend training as required to ensure continued development.
  • Be IT literate and able to demonstrate experience and working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word, with fleet management systems being beneficial.
  • Be customer-focused, have excellent communication skills, and be committed to delivering high standards of customer service.
