We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Specialist Teacher/Support Worker to join our team in Leeds.

This is a full-time, long-term opportunity that requires a passionate professional to support a student with autism, ADHD, and dyslexia. The role involves providing tailored assistance to manage distractions in learning, improve memory and organization, and navigate challenges related to auditory processing difficulties.

The Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide 2:1 assistance to a student who is autistic, with ADHD and a recent dyslexia diagnosis, addressing both educational and emotional needs.
  • Support the student across six subjects, ensuring a 2:1 support arrangement in lessons to facilitate learning and meet safeguarding standards.
  • Help manage learning distractions due to ADHD, and support memory and organizational skills to ensure deadlines aren't missed.
  • Implement targeted interventions such as social thinking sessions and relaxation techniques to support emotional regulation.
  • Sit in on lessons for post-16 education, focusing on managing autism and masking without subject delivery.
  • Collaborate with the MDT to support the educational and health needs outlined in the Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP).
  • Communicate regularly with tutors, lead professionals, and the MDT, contributing to quality assurance and ongoing development of support strategies.
  • Plan and coordinate daily proprioceptive activities and sensory diets, working closely with the Occupational Therapist to support self-regulation and sensory needs.
  • Keep accurate records of student progress, IEPs, and prepare reports for relevant parties.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and the MDT regarding student performance and concerns.
Requirements & Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting children and young people, with training in anxiety management, sensory programs, emotional literacy, and therapeutic techniques.
  • Autism awareness and emotional regulation, communication, and anxiety support.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent is highly desirable for this role, ensuring the candidate has the teaching expertise to enhance learning outcomes.

£28 - £40 per hour | Estimated annual salary: £58,560 - £83,200.
