Job Title: Deputy Head of Events
Reports to: Chief Commercial Officer
Salary: £50-£55K per annum, pro rata
Location: Battersea area
Contract: 9-month fixed-term, full-time (maternity cover)
Work Arrangement: 40 hours per week, flexible hours required
Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Deputy Head of Events to join our team. As a key member of our Events team, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of our events venues, overseeing the events budget, and leading the growth strategy for the Events team.
Main Responsibilities:
- Team Management:
- Manage the Events Team, including line management of the management team
- Oversee sufficient staffing levels for all booked events and ensure all staff are correctly inducted
- Work closely with HR to manage recruitment of new team members
- Attend HoS meetings on behalf of the Head of Events
- Identify new revenue opportunities and develop new event business initiatives
Finance and Administration:
- Oversee and manage the Events budget, achieving targeted income
- Manage and finalize the monthly financial reconciliation
- Handle customer complaints and resolve within agreed timeframes
- Ensure the Events Team keeps the Events diary updated and the budget updated with recorded income and expenses
- Sign off expense and budget spend with the Events Team
- Create POs and invoices, liaising with the Finance Team as required
- Seek quotes for goods and services, raising purchase orders as needed
Venue Management and Booking:
- Oversee the Events Team, ensuring all application paperwork is complete and compliant with Event Policy
- Liaise closely with the Events Team and other Enable services to coordinate the wider events/ activity programme
Event Production:
- Support the Head of Events and Production Teams with event delivery
- Assist with physical event setup and dismantling, managing contractors and suppliers
Requirements:
- Experienced leader with ability to manage a successful team
- Previous experience in complex budget management
- Experience engaging with senior-level management
- Proven record of operational excellence, with ability to manage multiple responsibilities
- Self-driven, results-oriented individual with a positive attitude
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Collaborative person, able to work with peers across other functions
- Intellectually curious about the industry
- Proficient in office software: Outlook, Excel, Teams
Desirable Requirements:
- Driver's license
- Proficiency with Priava or other diary management software
- Experience with Xero, Sage, or other accounting software
