Job Summary: The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.

  1. Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, and decontamination.
  2. Properly explaining the process of venipuncture (blood drawing) and other specimen collection.
  3. Checking all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.
  4. Packaging specimens for transport and storing specimen samples according to required temperature.
  5. Attending annual department trainings and answering telephone calls to satisfy inquiries about laboratory results.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed.
  2. Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
  3. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
